Academia 18: How am I Preparing for Year 13?

Hello my beautiful friends!

In today's post I am going to summarise what I am doing over the summer holiday in preparation for Year 13 in September. I have decided that (hopefully) my revision over half term will be intense because a) I feel I have not studied to my full potential during Year 12 and b) I must prepare for my admissions test and (if I do get invited ) Oxford interview. Do not feel your revision needs to be as intense as this, yet I still hope this post is useful for inspiration and as a guideline.

If you follow my Instagram, you will know I bought some notebooks from Tiger. I am using these for my revision over the summer holidays. I felt it would be useful to collate all of my summer revision, but I did not think my summer revision should be filed in my Year 12 or Year 13 subject folders, so these notebooks are a handy (and aesthetic) option.

Whether you plan to do a lot of revision or minimal revision during your holiday, I recommend making a list of everything you would like to cover such as mine that I made in Excel because this ensures you do not miss anything. As shown, for each week I listed the topics I aim to cover, book I aim to read and MAT papers I aim to complete and this is colour-coded for easier understanding. I intend to tick off topics/tasks once complete, which I believe can be really motivational. In the final week, I have planned to do minimal revision to leave spare time to either finish revision I have not completed from previous weeks or just relax before the pressure of Sixth Form hits again.

Over the summer, I aim to revise all Year 12 and Year 13 topics covered so far as well as prepare for my admissions test and do wider reading. For maths and further maths I am going to do exercises/questions in my textbook for each topic whilst for physics and economics my main method of revision will be my revision cards.

Do not feel deflated if you do not complete all of the tasks on your list because, from personal experience, it is highly unlikely you will complete everything regardless of how realistic you are. Also, I urge everyone to prioritise relaxation over revision during the holiday for your mental well being. Make a list of all of the fun activities you want to do during your summer too (I have done this myself)!

I hope everyone has both a productive and relaxing summer holiday. I am going to start my Back to School series of blog posts on Monday 6th August (I have some VERY exciting blog posts planned 😆), so stay tuned! I would also like to get my Instagram account to 1000 followers by the end of summer (although I feel this is slightly ambitious), so I would appreciate it if my followers could repost my posts and/or give my page shoutouts on their profile or story. 💋

As always, feel free to comment or dm me advice or questions (and any Back to School or general posts you would like to see).
