Academia 21: Sixth Form Clothing Haul
Hello my beautiful friends!
At my sixth form, the dress code is 'business wear', which I believe is similar to dress codes in some other sixth forms. Recently, I went shopping for new sixth form clothes, so thought it may be useful to share my purchases. As students, many of you may have a limited budget to spend on sixth form clothes and business wear can be expensive, so I have only included essentials in this blog post. If your sixth form has a casual dress code or if you have left sixth form, I hope this post is still useful as fashion inspiration.

Green Floral Blouse |
Blouses are an essential because, like my sixth form, many sixth forms do not allow t-shirts. I recommend H&M for blouses as H&M generally have a large selection of smart clothing that isn't too expensive. Look out for the H&M sales throughout the year as there are often blouses at bargain prices!
Although I did not purchase any blazers because I am reusing my blazers from last academic year, I do recommend buying a blazer. These are so versatile and can smarten any outfit! Blazers are often more expensive, so I suggest buying one basic blazer to begin with that can complement a variety of outfits and then expanding your blazer collection later.
Another, not essential, nice-to-have is a dress(es). I have a couple of dresses from last academic year, but I bought this one on my shopping trip. These are nice to wear as an alternative to blouses and trousers/skirts and float-y (but still smart) dresses are a nice option when it is warmer in the summer.
Of course, you will need some smart trousers and skirts! I recommend buying one pair of black trousers and one black knee-length skirt to begin with as these items will complement all blouses and jackets. You can alternate between your trousers and skirt, pairing them with different blouses and a jacket or no jacket. These are essential starting items and you can buy more funky trousers and skirts as the academic year progresses.
Alongside your trousers and skirt, I recommend buying a belt as this enables you to have more variety with your outfits by accessorizing.
To complete your look, you will need shoes. Last year, my staple shoes were some black loafers (I owned some Chelsea boots, but the heel broke); however, this year I have branched out and bought some new Chelsea boots and Dr. Martens. I recommend having a staple black flat as well as (if your budget allows) some form of black boot. You do not need many shoes because a couple of staple shoes will allow you to add sufficient variety to your look.
Again, I recommend shopping in the sale section when possible because this will enable you to save money, which is important as a student. Equally, UNiDAYS (I will continue to preach about this app because it is AMAZING) offers discounts on many retailers for sixth form, college and university students, so is another method of money saving. Sign up now to find out more!
Whether this advice was relevant or not, I hope this post was interesting. I have tried to link most of the items (I hope the links work)! I found this post really fun to write because it is slightly different to my usual academic posts. Did you enjoy it? What are your sixth form fashion tips? Let me know in the comments!
