Chat 8: Life Update (mental health, universities, organising my life and more...)

Hello my beautiful friends!

Due to being very inactive recently because of my mock exams, I have decided to write a little life update for all of you. This life update will include both academic and general updates to my life.

The first topic I would like to talk about is mental health. Recently, I have struggled with my mental health. I am taking steps to help my mental health, but I do not want to go into detail about these steps yet. Due to this, I feel I have slipped academically and not achieved my expected grades in my mocks (although I do not know what grades I have achieved until my mock results day on Thursday).

The deterioration of my mental health has changed my view on what university I aim to attend. I have not received decisions from all of my universities yet (I am waiting for Imperial College) and I will post a "UCAS Experience" blog post once I do have all of these decisions, but I am currently favouring my unconditional offer from the University of Birmingham because I feel that this will relieve the academic pressure that I am currently feeling; however, I am going to attend the offer-holder days for a few of my university choices.

However, I have focused on generally organising my life recently. From doing little things such as washing my makeup brushes regularly, I have set reminders on my phone to both remind and motivate me to do these things. Also, I have been focusing on saving a larger proportion of my money, which was one of my New Years resolutions, by planning my spending more and this has been successful. Whilst this is not productive in an academic sense, it is productive and it does ensure I do not give up on everything completely.

A random life update is that I have been trying to step outside of my comfort zone a bit more. This has involved wearing brighter makeup and getting new piercings. Whilst these are little things, I feel that have added challenge to my life and improved my mood.

The arguably most important update I want to give is regarding my blog. One of my New Years resolutions was to grow my blog. I aim to invest more time into my blog and Instagram account, posting daily Instagram stories, bi-weekly Instagram posts and weekly blog posts. As you may have seen on my Instagram, I was awarded 2nd Place in the My Student Events Star Vlogger Competition. As I mentioned, I really enjoyed creating this vlog-style video and have created more videos for MSE as requested by them, which I hope you will see soon. I may start posting these vlog-style videos on my Instagram and/or blog and/or create a Youtube channel alongside my blog. What do you prefer? Please let me know in the comments!

Although this blog post has been a bit of a ramble, I hope that it has been informative by answering any questions you may have had. Hopefully, I have covered all of the topics that I intended to cover. Please do communicate your requests to me, whether that is blog post ideas, Instagram post ideas or anything else.
