Academia 23: My University of Cambridge Summer School Experience

Image
Hello my beautiful friends! As you may know, I attended a summer school at Trinity College, Cambridge for 4 days last week (I posted about this summer school on my Instagram and Instagram story). In this post, I am going to review my experience. For reference, I attended the Women in STEM summer school, which was a free summer school opportunity for state-educated girls with an interest in studying a STEM subject at university. Of course, a major focus of the residential was learning. Over the 4 days, I attended 4 lectures and 1 supervision (mine were all maths-based) as well as visiting the Cavendish Laboratory. All of the topics discussed in the lectures were beyond the A Level syllabus, so I found them fascinating because I acquired new knowledge, which truly challenged my mathematical thinking. Despite the lectures being presented by (very intelligent) academic staff, I found them easy to follow and not intimidating at all. If you'd like more information on specific top...

Academia 22: What's in my Sixth Form bag?

Image
Hello my beautiful friends! Here is the fourth (and final-ish) post in my Back2School series (don't forget to read my other posts: A Level Folder Organisation , Back2School Stationery Haul  and Sixth Form Clothing Haul )! This post is a classic 'What's in my bag?'! Next week's post will be about my Cambridge summer school experience (I am currently on this summer school), so stay tuned for that. I am using last year's Sixth Form bag because it is a good size and not damaged at all, so I felt I did not need to buy a new bag. I bought this Fiorelli bag from TK Maxx. In the front pocket of my bag, I keep my library card for my local university's library. My local university has a scheme whereby Sixth Form and college students can use the library to study free of charge. In one of the side pockets of my bag, I carry 'beauty' items, which include my Nivea lip balm and Body Shop spray. The main pocket contains my folder , p...

Academia 21: Sixth Form Clothing Haul

Image
Hello my beautiful friends! At my sixth form, the dress code is 'business wear', which I believe is similar to dress codes in some other sixth forms. Recently, I went shopping for new sixth form clothes, so thought it may be useful to share my purchases. As students, many of you may have a limited budget to spend on sixth form clothes and business wear can be expensive, so I have only included essentials in this blog post. If your sixth form has a casual dress code or if you have left sixth form, I hope this post is still useful as fashion inspiration. Green Floral Blouse Blouses are an essential because, like my sixth form, many sixth forms do not allow t-shirts. I recommend H&M for blouses as H&M generally have a large selection of smart clothing that isn't too expensive. Look out for the H&M sales throughout the year as there are often blouses at bargain prices! Although I did not purchase any blazers because I am reusing my blazers from last...

Academia 20: Back2School Stationery Haul!

Image
Hello my beautiful friends! Today I have decided to officially begin my Back2School series with a stationery haul! I do plan to reuse some stationery from last academic year, but I have only included new stationery in this post. All of the stationery included in this haul is from Ryman (I will include links for all of the items). If you are looking for new Back to School stationery, I recommend Ryman because they currently have a sale on all Back to School essentials and you get a 10% discount with UNiDAYS . The first item I bought were some  Zebra Ballpoint Pens  (pens are an essential and you always need more pens). Usually, I'm more of a Bic gal, but I have seen good reviews of Zebra (and these pens were cheaper than Bic), so I decided to try them out. I will let you know my opinion! Have you used Zebra pens? If so, what's your opinion? I bought a large clear pencil case as my main pencil case for this academic year. This was for two reasons: a) my current pen...
